For the longest time I could remember I’ve always had a passion for fashion. From day one, making and curating a look was a fundamental pillar that has built my drag career.
As a drag queen and a performer, I’ve learned there are many ways and mediums to help with my story telling. Fashion became a big part of that. I’ve been told I’m a Jacklin of all trades, time to show off my skill. My Fashion design and construction skills come from my 16 years of showing and of course YouTube University.
I started learning the basics doing thrift flips and up-cycling sweaters . Giving me the best understanding of fabrics and pattern making. I didn’t jump head first into gowns of course, making my iconic Whitney Houston Performance back in 2013, and I’ve only got better.
With every broken needle comes great knowledge and i got a lot of it. Obsessing over every fashion show I could find, and analyzing brand after brand, understanding what makes their brand their own and it comes down to knowing and staying true to your brand codes. Over the next 90 days I’m pulling out my archive of fashion and hair, and I’m gonna do my best to curate and showcase what the core Brand Codes of Queens Lounge.
I’m always in a research and development stage so this is a challenge for me to see if I can actually get something to the market and sold. Building out Queens Lounge brand code starts from my love to relax and have easy to wear items. As a drag queen, the looks must look great not only on camera for a picture, but in person from all angles including at the taco truck at the end of the night.
I’m challenging myself with Open up some commission spots to test my skills and gain an understanding of the market. What people are looking and wanting and get some feedback and make adjustments. And of course I’m planning on doing some pageant gowns cause I’m trying to get my 10s. If you’re reading this, it’s never too late to join the Queens Lounge Family leave a comment and let me know what you think.
